I'm Matt and I'm an ACD/Senior Copywriter with ten years of experience from both sides of the agency and client fence.
So, what has nearly a decade of marketing and advertising copywriting taught me?
- Staying cool under pressure? Check.
- Turning the complex into the simple and clear? Yep.
- Gracefully giving and receiving feedback? A must.
- Bringing something fun and new to the table? Every time.
But probably the most important thing I've learned is that what separates good ideas from the great ones is whether or not they're connected to insightful human truths.
I've always been fascinated by what motivates people and, as a writer, I don't just want to come up with clever puns and catchy turns of phrase—although that's certainly my brain's default setting.
I aim to connect with people by finding ways to tap into and put words to inner feelings, beliefs and longings. I'm driven to paint new visions, voice forgotten dreams, challenge, build energy, answer questions we didn't know needed answering and find humor and wisdom where it's least expected.
Why? I believe every second of a viewer or reader's attention is priceless. When you get it, you should do your damnedest to make it worth their while.
Whether it's an email, a social post, a phone call, a billboard or a TV spot, every interaction is a chance to build awareness, challenge convention, entertain and make the world better by serving up strong messages targeted to the right people at the right times and places.
What can I say, I dream kinda big.
My greatest asset in this work is having a rather broad base of experiences to draw from—both as a writer and as someone whose heart pounds for seeing new places, trying new things, meeting new people and exploring the collision of ideas in new contexts.
